-- About Light Commercial Vehicle Springs --
Vehicle leaf spring, also known as Light Commercial Vehicle Springs, is a simplified version of the heavy vehicle springs. It was earlier known by the name of laminated or carriage spring and is being used since medieval times. Known by more names of cart spring and semi elliptical spring, it takes the shape of usually a single leaf spring to one containing up to 8 separate Carbon spring steel leaves While the middle portion of this semi circled metallic curve acts as the hub for the axle, the securing holes have a pin fitted to secure it to the axel. The leaf springs, which are meant for heavy vehicles, are constituted with multiple layers of smaller leaves loaded over one another. Lorry leaf springs do multitasking of damping and springing thus serving the dual purpose. Due to the effect of interleaf friction, there is damping action that causes a restriction in the movement of the suspension. To avoid this situation, manufactures prefer to use a pad at the end of each leaf.
Vehicular leaf springs can be fixated straightaway to the frame of vehicle towards both of its ends. They can also be connected straightforwardly to the front end and the other one attached with the help of a fetter that is a movable metallic-support. This metallic fetter prevents the leaf spring from getting stretched at the time of its compression consequently making it soft ride. There are several springs, which are spoon shaped at their ends, they have feature of twirling to make its movement easier.
